Healing in a World of Division
- Faith
Hard seasons come for all of us. It might be grief, disappointment, uncertainty, or transition. These seasons feel like standing in the middle of a storm with no shelter. You may wonder if God sees you, if you are strong enough to make it through, or if hope is even possible.
But here is the good news. God has not left you without an anchor. His Word has always been the steady place to hold on to when everything around you shakes. Scripture is not just a collection of old words. It is alive, powerful, and able to sustain you when life feels unbearable.
Here are five biblical truths that can anchor you in your hardest seasons.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” You never walk through sorrow alone. Even when you cannot feel Him, God promises His nearness in your pain.
When you are grieving, you may feel like God is distant. But Scripture assures us that His presence is especially close in seasons of brokenness. Your tears are seen. Your prayers are heard. Your pain is not invisible to Him.
Anchor yourself in this truth: When my heart is heavy, God is with me.
Second Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” In a culture that praises strength and control, God invites you to release both.
Your weakness is not failure. It is the very place where God’s strength shows up most powerfully. When you cannot carry yourself, His grace carries you. When you feel like you have nothing left, He fills the gaps.
Anchor yourself in this truth: My weakness is not the end. It is where God’s power begins.

Romans 8:28 says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Notice it does not say all things are good. It says God works all things for good.
Pain does not disappear. Loss does not magically become easy. But God promises to weave even the hardest experiences into a greater story of redemption. Nothing in your life is wasted.
Anchor yourself in this truth: Even this season can be redeemed by God’s goodness.
Philippians 4:6–7 encourages, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Peace is not the absence of problems. It is the presence of God in the middle of them. His peace does not always make sense, but it can quiet the storm inside you even if the storm around you continues.
Anchor yourself in this truth: God’s peace will protect my heart and mind, even here.
Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Everything in life changes. Jobs, relationships, health, and plans shift unexpectedly. But God’s Word remains steady.
When nothing else feels dependable, you can rest in the certainty of His promises. His truth will not collapse under the weight of your pain. His Word is stronger than any storm.
Anchor yourself in this truth: God’s Word is unshakable. I will build my hope on it.
It is one thing to read these truths. It is another to let them sink into your daily rhythm. Scripture anchors you most powerfully when you practice it in small, faithful ways.
Here are some steps to take:
Your hard season does not disqualify you from God’s presence. In fact, it is the very place where His Word can become most alive. These truths are not abstract ideas. They are anchors meant to hold you steady when life feels overwhelming.
God is near to you. His strength is enough. His peace is available. His redemption is real. And His Word will never fail.
You may not know how long this season will last, but you do not have to face it unanchored. Hold fast to these five truths. Let them remind you that even in the storm, you are not alone.

What I know for certain: real change doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from surrendering what we’ve been forced to be to what we really want to BECOME. Aligning with what matters most to experience the “more” your soul craves.

The Kelsey Mercer Podcast explores what it actually looks like to live with purpose, resilience, and connection — in every season. No polish, no pretense. Just honest dialogue on faith, health, relationships, and the work of becoming.
